Polished wood handle with metal ferrule for holding escapement files, needle files and other small tools.
Easy to attach: fix the file in a vise with its tang pointing up, place the starter hole in the handle over the file tang, and tap the handle with a rawhide mallet to push it onto the tang.
The 4" handle length includes ferrule.
